The ACE Study
Demonstrates a powerful connection between the quanta of personal traumas you experienced before the age of eighteen and risk factors for the leading causes of death.

Persons with high ACE scores are at much higher risk for health and medical conditions resulting from their choices for remediating their pain. While their choices may be effective in the short term, long-term effects often include chronic health and social problems with dire outcomes.
In addition, the underlying causes of
these problems — adverse
childhood experiences — typically go undetected because of shame, secrecy and social taboo, which prevent people from talking about such things. These same social taboos confound those we expect to be best poised to help ACE victims.
